Matt & Sam met 9 years ago in high school and always noticed each other but it wasn’t until college that they started dating. Sam would go to all of Matt’s football games when he played for Princeton in college. After graduation, the eventually moved in together living in Hoboken. Matt proposed exactly 8 years after they met on April Fools Day, which was also Sam’s 25th birthday!
Matt & Sam’s wedding was the 2nd EVER wedding reception to be held at New Jersey’s Governor’s Mansion, where NJ Governor Chris Christie lives and works. Sam works for Mrs. Christie and has become very close with their family and children. The Christie’s surprised Sam offering her Drumthwacket to celebrate hers and Matt’s wedding day! After organizing many events at the mansion, Sam got to live out her dream of having her wedding there under a big white tent on a summer night.
Sam and her bridesmaids went thrift shop hopping collecting unique champagne glasses for the champagne bar she made for cocktail hour for all of her guests to enjoy. They decorated the inside of the mansion with photos of old photos of all of their relatives wedding photos. The historic mansion was absolutely beautiful and hanging Sam’s wedding dress in one of the original hallways from when the mansion was first built was surreal! It was so hard to only pick 100 photos because this wedding was like no other! It was such an honor for me to photograph at the Governor’s Mansion where almost all of the governor’s of NJ have resided.
My favorite part of their wedding day was Samantha getting ready with her mom and sisters at Drumthwacket before heading to the church. The lighting couldn’t have been more perfect and everyone was just so excited, especially Sam to be marrying the man of her dreams!
