Josh and Nicole first met in August 2011 at the Navesink Fair, a local event in Nicole’s (and my own) hometown that we grew up going to all our lives. Nicole said she barely noticed Josh at the time but he noticed her and said he would date her to his friends. A few weeks later at her brother’s birthday, Nicole noticed Josh but the two barely chatted – Nicole says they were both too nervous! As fate would have it, the two ran into each other again at a Toby Keith concert. That night, Nicole found out Josh was younger than her and decided she didn’t want to date him. Despite his polite persistence, Nicole kept saying no but they became close friends anyway. By 2013, Nicole realized she was starting to have feelings for Josh beyond being just friends and everyone was elated! At another Toby Keith concert that year, Josh asked her to be his girlfriend and she finally said yes.
The two got engaged at Laurita Winery with Nicole’s brother, sister-in-law, and cousin after a rainy afternoon of enjoying wine. Her sister-in-law kept mentioning she wanted to get a picture with her husband and finally before they left, they all decided to take a few pictures in front of the doorway at the winery. Nicole was ready to go (to work at the same very fair the two met at years before) when Josh convinced her to take one photo together. While the two were posing for their picture, Josh grabbed the ring box from his pocket and got down on one knee. Shocked, Nicole obviously said yes!!
The two are planning a fall wedding on Nicole’s mother’s birthday, as a way to honor her since she is no longer with us. They are excited to plan their special day at the Rumson Country Club Riverhouse and are looking forward to dancing with their family and friends! I can’t wait to capture their special day., especially since her dad is the florist! He even made the bouquet Nicole had for her engagement session which matched her outfits perfectly. We had a great time with their engagement session at Nicole’s Dad’s greenhouse, at a local park and ending at Sandy Hook beach. You’d never know by the photos that it was super windy and started raining just as we were ending the session! Perfect timing. ; )
