Heather and Matt had such an elegant nautical inspired wedding at the Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel this October and I feel so lucky to have been able to be a part of their special day! Heather and Matt met 5 years ago in New York City at an 80’s themed workout bar crawl, of all places. Both Maids of Honor and the Best Man all brought up this 80’s party in their speeches so it must’ve been some party!
They began talking and realized they had a lot in common – especially their passion for helping children. As Heather said, 5 years later… the rest is history! A year ago, Heather left her New Jersey home to move to Maryland with Matt and they adopted their sweet puppy Queso, who made an appearance at their wedding!
Their fall wedding day was designed around their love of the water and sailing, as both grew up on the water. They chose to use light pink, navy, and gold to pull together all of the details of their special day (and they did it all so fast, which is just incredible!). Everything felt so special and personal – especially the fact that one of Matt’s friends performed their ceremony at the cutest little church in Monmouth Beach! Heather and Matt chose to have their reception at the Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel in Asbury Park, which was absolutely stunning – and there were some incredible photo ops there!! Without a doubt, their reception was a party! Everyone around them was clearly so happy to celebrate the love that Heather and Matt share. Oh, and the band they chose was AMAZING! The Nines were so much fun to listen to all night!
Being a fellow fur parent, my favorite part of wedding day was meeting their dog Queso! After warming up to me, he followed me around while I scouted out photo spots the morning of while the girls were finishing up with hair and makeup. I loved that Heather and Matt understand the love of their fur baby especially since I am obsessed with my golden retriever Layla (who was the flower girl at my own wedding).
